Batting Legend is an independent editorial index of hotels. It covers four categories — art, capsule, casino and ice — and nothing else. The list is short on purpose and is not organised by country, region or continent; a hotel appears because of what it is, not where it sits on a map.

What the entries are

Every write-up describes a real property: the building and how it came to be, what staying there is actually like, and what surrounds it. Facts are kept general and true to character — the kind of thing that remains accurate between renovations. Nothing is stated that would require a source we cannot stand behind.

What the entries are not

There are no star ratings, no scores, no reader reviews and no ranked order. Nothing here can be booked, and no page carries a rate, a promotion or an availability claim. Where a property includes a gaming floor, that is noted as one facility among others and described no further.

How it is funded

No hotel listed here pays to be listed, and no entry is written under a commercial arrangement with the property or its owners. If that ever changes, it will be stated plainly on this page before it appears anywhere else on the site.

Corrections

Details change. Hotels are refurbished, renamed, closed and reopened, and seasonal properties in particular shift from year to year. If something on this site is out of date or wrong, the contact page explains how to tell us.
